Snowball Cookie Treats

These snowball cookie treats are a nice little almond shortbread cookie especially well suited for the winter season.

They are also a great shortbread cookie addition and look very nice combined with other colorful holiday treats on your platter.

This recipe will make about 5 dozen cookies.


  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sifted icing sugar
  • 2 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup ground almonds

  • icing sugar for rolling


  • Cream together the icing sugar and butter.
  • Blend in almond flavoring and water.
  • Mix in the flour and ground almonds.
  • Shape into 3/4-1" balls.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake @ 300 F for 30-35 minutes, depending on size of balls.
  • Cool slightly, and roll in icing sugar.
  • Place on wire rack to cool completely.

Hardened icing sugar

  • place between 2 sheets of wax paper
  • roll with rolling pin, then put through a sieve

  • Hardened brown sugar

  • place pieces of fresh apple in a plastic bag
  • add some hardened brown sugar and seal bag tightly
  • let sit for a few hours
  • the sugar will absorb the moisture from the apple pieces

  • Measuring Cups

  • before you put sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it with hot water
  • pour out the hot water, but don't dry the cup
  • next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it will come right out

  • Reheating refrigerated bread

  • to warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated
  • place them in a microwave with a cup of water
  • the increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster

  • Reheat Pizza

  • heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove
  • set temperature to med-low and heat till warm
  • this will keep the crust crispy
